Starting up in Practice

Introduction

We are planning a series of one-day business programmes specifically aimed at people planning to set up in Private Practice. By the end of the workshop you should have:

  • Identified what you need to be good at to make a success of your own practice.

  • Clarified what you need to know and where you can get help from.

  • Identified the major pitfalls that you may have to navigate in the early stages of setting up a practice and considered what you could do to overcome them.

  • A clearer idea of whether you want to go into Private Practice and what you need to do to get the process started.

Those who attend the workshop will be given a copy of our new manual - ”What you need to know and what you need to do to make a success of setting up a Private Practice - How prepared are you?". This will contain a number of questionnaires and case incidents that are designed to help you:

  • Clarify why you want to go into private practice.

  • Identify what you need to know - and be good at - to be successful, and reflect on the business knowledge and skills you need to develop whilst starting up in practice.

  • Reflect on whether going into private practice is right for you and whether your expectations of what it will be like are realistic.
